Hiei-'s compatibility list has moved onto this site, and will continue to be updated. I added Super Mario World and Legend of Zelda - A Link To The Past.

In other news, I updated SNESAdvance Tools GUI today to fix a bug with saving (forgot fclose()). - sephiroth2k

FluBBa updated his binary again yesterday, here's what's new:

Fixed more with status for joypad polling (R-Type 3).
Fixed HCountLatch (lots of games).
Another game that also started to work was Ryuuko no Ken 2.
In other news, I made a Win32 GUI version of SNESAdvance Tools, check it out.

I might as well release the source (it compiles on *nix) - code is pretty ugly, but whatever. - sephiroth2k

Gladius has updated his SPC emulator for GBA to v0.3.1, get it at his site. Here's what's new:

- Fixed a bug involving decoding BRR data crashing the emulator
- Fixed a long standing BRR decoding bug that caused some samples to be borked (improves sound quality on many songs).
- Fixed a TCALL bug that was crashing some SPC's
- Included new rom builder
- Bumped the mixing rate down to 16Khz, I can't notice a huge difference in mixing quality, and the songs play much closer to full speed.
- Included new BRR resampling method, use if your song displays BRR error
Definitely worth checking out.

I tweaked the speed hack algorithm for SA Tools again (Seiken Densetsu 3). Sorry, the game still doesn't work. - sephiroth2k

January 11, 2005

FluBBa has released another updated binary, this one fixes controller issues in Super Mario All-Stars; I updated the Secret of Mana build as well.

Also released today is the first SuperDAT update in months; I merged FluBBa's updates with mine and the contributions of many others. Check out superdat.txt to see whats new.

In somewhat-related news, gladius has released version 0.3 of his SPC emulator for GBA.

New in 0.3, complete rewrite of DSP, all CPU opcodes addded, lots o' bugfixes. This release should have better sounding songs for all songs that play back, but the compatibility might not have gone up too much. There is a timing issue that I have to address, but I figured if I'm going to rewrite things yet again, I my as well release the current build. Have fun :-)
Check it out at his site. - sephiroth2k

I just finished a quick&dirty tutorial on graphics fixing, it's not very complete but it will get you started! - sephiroth2k

January 4, 2005

Flubba released an updated version of SNES Advance today which adds support for region protected (E) games. Source code is also available. I also updated my sketchy build (which fixes the text in Secret of Mana at the expense of some other games). - sephiroth2k

January 3, 2005

I just wrote a tutorial on cracking region/copy protected games. These games usually say something like 'This game was not designed for your Super Famicom/Super NES' and freeze at that screen. Enjoy! - sephiroth2k

December 27, 2004

Recoded/slightly updated the speed hacking tutorial and moved it onto this server (it was previously on my personal webspace).

UPDATE: Also recoded/added the RAM hacking tutorial. - sephiroth2k

Cleaned up the HTML for this site somewhat.

I just updated SNES Advance Tools: hacking and fixing is done by the same executable now, and I improved the algorithms. The fixer gets some nifty results out of Chrono Trigger now, by which I mean it shows a pendulum for .5s before crashing. Download here. - sephiroth2k

December 9, 2004

I just coded two tools for use with SNES Advance - one that makes fixes for roms and one that makes speed hacks. C source code and Win32 binaries are included, and they should compile under *nix as well: download here.

Starting today, sephiroth2k (myself) will be maintaining this site; this means that the various tutorials and tools (and the superdat) I host will move here. I hope to find time to improve the site layout as well. - sephiroth2k
