Epic Games online store crashes after GTA V is free

After facing an outage that lasted over 8 hours, the Epic Games Store appears to be back online now. This means you can claim your free copy of the hugely popular Grand Theft Auto until May 21, 2020.

The Epic Games Store was earlier counting on the launch of a free game title which was revealed by a first tweet from the official Epic Games Twitter account. However, when the deal finally went live, Epic Games’ website crashed. It happened when people tried to refresh the website to get their free title.

An official Fortnite Twitter account explained that Epic is “investigating issues” on PC and Mac. They also said there are issues on the iOS and Android platforms as well. Additionally, Epic’s Battle Breakers mobile game was also struggling during the day. That said, Epic’s status page now shows that Fortnite and Battle Breakers are fully operational again.
