Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, is a bit different from the usual modern games, which showed gamers that 16-bit color schemes can be interesting too. The game is also known as a prequel to the original game, Octopath Traveler, which features 8 different characters and each with their own adventures and different roles. It was initially released in Japan only with a worldwide release in July 2022.
Choose from a long list of characters and build your ultimate team
Getting started with Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent exam, players will need to choose a path after completing the tutorial. The game offers three different paths, namely Power, Wealthand Notoriety. The controls are pretty easy to learn. The tutorial is more than enough to prepare the player on the go.
There are different side quests that can be found from different NPCs in the game. Many NPCs present a bubble upon clicking on which a story path can be found. Battle mode is a perfect place for players who like to make a strategic victory. The combat mechanism is sophisticated which adds more hype to the game. There are upgrades that can be made to ensure victory.
Follow your own path of adventure and rise against the evils
But that’s not enough, players also need to buy newer weapons by visiting the blacksmith. The game is divided into different chapters which is also an aspect that makes the game amazing. As this is a single-player RPG, an enjoyable and detailed story follows as the player progresses to a new level. All characters in the game interact directly with the player and the story continues.
However, it gets boring as new dialogues keep coming and players have to tap dialogue to pass. An option to keep the dialog flow automatic would be preferable. The game tutorial is exciting but long.
Enjoy advanced 2D Pixel Art graphics with an epic soundtrack
As you might know from previous titles, the game features 16-bit color and 2D-HD gameplay. Even with the said 2D gameplay, the game looks marvelous and makes the game awesome. The game gives players the option to customize the graphics settings of the game.
However, the game automatically sets active settings that best suit the device. Overall, the graphics are amazing and really different from what most games usually offer in 2D scenarios. The audio is one of the fantastic parts of the game. The splash screen music is quite good.
The game offers different types of sounds for different purposes. By far, many players said that their favorite music is the one that comes showing the rewards after completing a battle. The selection of music for each scenario sets the environment fairly well.
The game offers a compact UI and it’s easy to dodge unnecessary IAPs
The user interface of the game is quite compact as it includes various buttons on the bottom row and a map on the top part. The controls are not difficult to understand, but it is important to know the different characteristics of the enemy during the battle. The game’s in-app purchases aren’t as extensive as we usually notice in many games. But it is not mandatory to buy Ruby packs or other things to ensure you can play this game.
Ups and downs are part of every app and game we use. Although the game is so good, there are still some glitches in the game that might bother players. Nevertheless, weighing the pros and cons, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is still good and making its way into the player’s mind.
